Wy-Fi 2008

Please review the information below and contact us if you have any questions.

The date for Wy-Fi 2008 is September 27th, 2008.  This year we will be trying something new by screening the films outside (weather permitting).  The festival will be held outside the main lodge of the group camp in Wyalusing State Park, Wisconsin.

Audience

Showings begin at dusk the day of the festival. The first half of the festival features films appropriate for general audiences, whereas films of a more mature nature are shown during the second half. All ages are admitted to the festival however, as with all media, “Parental guidance is suggested”.

Participants

For the 2008 festival, we'd like to know a little about your film in advance. While we won't deny a showing to films that show up "out of the blue", we'd like filmmakers to contact us if they are working on a project which may be shown at the festival. That way we can plan the schedule accordingly and we can annouce the showing of films before the festival itself for promotional purposes.

The registration process amounts to providing the following information for each film submitted:

REQUIRED

  • Title
  • Presented By (the person in the audience who will be asked to introduce the film)
  • Running Time
  • Mature*

OPTIONAL

  • The date the film was completed
  • The film’s showing history (awards, etc.)
  • The budget, production notes, etc.

This information can be provided in advance of the festival by contacting us.

Films will be scheduled based on running time and maturity ratings (as noted above, mature films will be shown during the second half of the festival). Once the schedule has been established each film will be shown in the order in which they appear on the schedule. Before the beginning of each film, the person designated as “Presented By” on the registration form will be asked to address the audience with an introduction to the film. Any additional credits, anecdotes and thank-you’s can be given at this time.

Technical

Wy-Fi provides NTSC projection and stereo sound along with DVD reproduction.  If your film requires other methods of reproduction (Mini-DV, analog tape, projected film, PXL-2000,  etc.) you must provide the means for reproduction/projection.  For 2008 WyFi will be projecting composite or S-Video sources only.  If you are unsure (or have special requirements such as surround-sound, smell-o-vision, etc.) please contact us and we will try to provide accommodations.

* We consider a film to have “Mature” content if it contains material inappropriate for children under 13. Ultimately we leave it to the filmmakers discretion to make this determination, however if you would like some assistance or if you are unsure please contact us and we will help you determine if your film falls into the mature category or not. Bear in mind that if anyone is “scarred for life” by your film that you as the filmmaker will be held responsible, not the festival.
